BK Interview

The Cohassett Daily Telegraph recently conducted an exclusive 1 on 1 interview with Takilma's BK.  As the founder, guitarist and producer of Takilma his schedule is quite busy but he found time to sit down with Entertainment Journalist Peter Sanbatch recently to discuss whats in store for Takilma and their new release "Raising the Frequency". The following is excerpts of the interview:

P. Sanbatch reporting: How are the recording sessions going for your new CD? What kind of influences are you drawing from for the new material?

BK: Well having recently concluded through deep meditation & hypnosis that I was Eunice Treadwell (slave owners name) an african american slave who served in a housekeeping role but suffered greatly at loosing my 7 children to slavery by the age of 4 or 5... its really liberated me.  I have found new creative vigor through this transformational breakthrough. Oh.... and now I have been "clinically" diagnosed as an insomniac.  Helps keep things straight.

P. Sanbatch: Right...and how has that creative vigor help come through on the new songs?

BK: Having a new vocalist in Mike B changes everything...he brings his own uhh artistic element to his instrument. His voice.. so it feels like we are making an album from scratch again.  The tracks although sounding familiar (through all the internet leaks) has a freshness to it that I find stimulating.

P. Sanbatch: So whats the work pace like right now... what is the band gearing up for when the album is wrapped up?

BK: Right now we record, rehearse, write, revise and then decide its all shit and start over.  But the rehearsals are coming along for the new band members. We really are going to have a kick ass live set when we start gigging in April.  The new sound is familiar but refined.  I think fans and new listeners are going to be surprised by the sonic experience of the new material.  Its new ground for the band.

P. Sanbatch: I understand you had a little incident flying back from the Phoenix airport recently. A band insider said you had a brush with the TSA over some things you were bringing back.

BK: Mostly fruits and vegetables man... had I known I would not have brought that second back pack carry on.  And the Special K wasnt even mine!  Thats what you get for leaving your pack on the ground in the men's room of an international airport.  Someone had to take the fall.

P. Sanbatch: So whats the long term plan for 2010 with Takilma? Any chance of a show date on the east coast this year? You guys are primarily a West Coast band right?

BK: So far but things are in the works.... I hear NY is lovely in mid october...

P. Sanbatch: Well thanks for taking some time to give me an update.  Since hearing you music via Independent Musicans Radio I have wanted to get this interview. The new release will be out 4/20/2010 correct?Available online?

BK: Yes 4/20 is the release date. Hitlers B-day? Or feel good day? I can't remember either way... its gonna be a kick to the gonads.  Check out www.takilma.net and keep reaching out to touch me.  Thanks Sanbatch.

P. Sanbatch: So catch Takilma on tour this summer and check their website on 4/20/2010 for their new release "Raising the Frequency".
